1. What is the eligibility criterion to apply to the program?
Be between 20 and 30 years old and of Indian nationality
Must have scored minimum 55% in Physics, Mathematics & English each in (10+2) exam.
Acceptable physical appearance with weight appropriate to height.
Valid Indian Class I medical certificate* (No Limitations)
Fluency in English - both written and spoken.
*Candidates not having Indian Class 1 medical, can apply with a Class II medical. They must have Indian Class 1 medical prior to start of the IndiGo training program.
Note: Proof of Documents, Certificates/mark sheets to be produced at the Interview stage.
2. What is the minimum and maximum age for applicants?
Minimum Age: At least 20 years or older at the time of registering for IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program.
Maximum Age: 30 years at the time of appearing for the Selection Phase 1
3. What is the IndiGo Cadet Program?
The IndiGo Cadet Pilot program is for non-pilots aspiring to be pilots. It involves training the candidates in 2 phases so that he/she can act as a Jr. Co-pilot with IndiGo.
The first phase is to provide the required training to obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with Multi engine Instrument rating and requisite Multi engine experience followed by the Type Rating training for qualifying on the Airbus A320 as a co-pilot.
4. Where will I be trained for CPL and A320 Type Rating?
The CPL phase of training will be conducted at National Flying Training Institute Private Limited, Gondia, Maharashtra, India or any other training centre approved by IndiGo.
The A320 Type Rating training will be conducted at a CAE type rating training centre approved by IndiGo.
5. What is the process of selection and Induction?
An eligible candidate will be screened by a series of tests for ability, aptitude and psychological profile to be conducted by CAE at the candidates’ cost.
Successful candidates will undergo Group discussion / final interview with IndiGo. If selected, the candidate will be offered a conditional Letter of Intent (“LOI”) by IndiGo. Thereafter he/she will enter into an Agreement with IndiGo as a “Cadet
Pilot” and he/she will be entitled for a lump sum stipend as applicable.
On obtaining a CPL issued by DGCA India, the Cadet Pilot will be paid an enhanced monthly stipend as applicable.
Once the Cadet Pilot obtains an A320 Type Rating on his/her Indian CPL, subject to being found suitable by IndiGo in further IndiGo selection / simulator evaluation processes and regulatory authorities, as applicable, and IndiGo having suitable vacancy (ies), he/she may enter into an Employment Agreement with IndiGo as a ‘Junior Co-Pilot’.
It is clarified here that an Employment offer by IndiGo is subject to meeting all the terms & conditions as specified in Cadet Pilot Agreement and LOI.
6. How much is the selection Fee?
Candidates have to pay the CAE Aircrew Selection System (CASS) test fee of INR 5,000.
After initial scrutiny, the eligible candidates will be advised through e-mail to deposit the CASS Test fee in advance to the following account:

Only those candidates will be accepted to participate in the selection process who have deposited the CASS test fee as advised by CAE, along with Proof of Payment such as scan copy of Deposit Slip or UTIN Pin from Bank as Proof of Transaction. No Demand drafts will be accepted.
7. Is there any paperwork that I need to sign with IndiGo?
At the time of signing the Cadet Pilot Agreement the candidate is required to sign a Specialised Training Agreement whereby the candidate, commits to serve IndiGo for a specified term, post the successful completion of his training (both CPL & Type Rating).
8. Who pays for the total Training ( CPL/ME/IR and A320 Type Rating)?
The total cost of training is borne by the candidate.
9. What is the total cost of the program and what is the payment schedule?
The total cost for this program is INR 31,41,490 for the CPL-part of the training plus 30,200 USD for the Airbus A320 training. This excludes the selection fee as mentioned in Para 6.
Payment schedule for the training is as follows:
Two weeks prior to the course start date: INR 5,71,500
After 4 months of training: INR 6,25,952.50
After 6 months of training: INR 6,48,012.50
After 8 months of training: INR 6,48,012.50
After 10 months of training: INR 6,48,012.50
After 15 months of training, at the start of A320 training: USD 30,200.00
Package includes:
CPL-training: Flying fee for Single Engine and Multi-Engine, Accommodation & Electricity, Vegetarian meals, RT Classes, registration fees, Materials (books, headsets, flight computer) uniforms, licensing and examination fees.
Service tax – 10.30% (As per prevailing service tax rates).
Airbus A320 training: Type Rating Training, Registration Fees and Materials.
Package excludes:
CPL-training: You will be responsible to bear expenses towards selection test as mentioned above, train fare/airfare and living expenses at the campus and non-vegetarian meals.
Airbus 320 training: Accommodation, train fare/airfare, Visa (if applicable) and meals.
Medical insurance shall be your own responsibility for the complete duration of the training.
10. Who will make my travel arrangements?
The candidate is responsible for the entire training, including cost of the training, accommodation during type rating course, travel, insurance etc.
11. Who will pay for my medical Insurance during training?
The candidate is responsible for the entire training, including cost of the training, accommodation during type rating course, travel, insurance etc.
12. Where will I stay during training and who will arrange it?
The training school will make arrangements for your stay during CPL phase. During A320 type Rating training the candidate is responsible to pay for his accommodation. CAE may assist in arranging accommodation at candidate request at his/her cost.
13. Who will arrange my visa for training (if applicable)?
If A320 type training is conducted outside India, CAE will facilitate the Visa process for you but you will be responsible to obtain your own visa at your cost & other necessary travel related documents in relation to the training.
14. How long is the program?
The duration of whole program from start of CPL course to completion of A320 training is 19 months .
15. Will I be provided uniform?
Yes uniforms will be provided.
16. Who will meet me on arrival at National Flying Training Institute, Gondia?
Student Counsellor at Gondia will coordinate arrival schedule and transportation.
17. Am I paid anything during the training period?
Yes. Refer to Question No. 5.
