IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program

IndiGo, India’s largest and fastest growing low-fare airline, is on a very dynamic expansion and success path. IndiGo placed an order of 100 Airbus way back in 2005 and then began its domestic operations in August 2006. The airline will commence international operations on 1st September, 2011. IndiGo recently placed a firm order for 180 Airbus A320 Family aircraft to be delivered until 2025. To support their dynamic growth, IndiGo is in need of many pilots.


CAE Global Academy is proud to be working with IndiGo and offers the Indigo Cadet Pilot Program. This self-sponsored training program is specifically designed by CAE and IndiGo and enables you to receive your initial Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and an Airbus A320 Type Rating in only 19 months.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must

  • Be between 20 and 30 years of age and of Indian nationality
  • Have scored minimum 55% in Physics, Mathematics & English each, in (10+2) exam.
  • Possess acceptable physical appearance with weight appropriate to height.
  • Have valid Indian Class I medical certificate* (No Limitations)
  • Be in good physical condition with appropriate weight and height
  • Be fluent in English - both written and spoken.
  • Have "Unique-I.D." number/ registration number (U-I.D.)at the time of admission..

    *Candidates not having Indian Class 1 medical, can apply with a Class II medical. They must have Indian Class 1 medical prior to start of the IndiGo training program.

    Note: Proof of Documents, Certificates/mark sheets to be produced at the Interview stage.


  • Selection Process

    All complete applications will be screened and eligible candidates will have to go through a selection process consisting of:

    Selection Phase I (written Test):
    Physics Test
    Mathematics Test

    English Language Test
    The applicant is allowed to the next phase upon successful completion of phase I.

    Selection Phase II – CAE Aircrew Selection System (CASS)
    Candidates will perform 2 online profiling tests before presenting themselves at one of the test-centers spread across India for an Interview, a physical assessment, psychometric test and a debriefing session.
    The applicant is allowed to the next phase upon successful completion of phase II.

    Selection Phase III
    The final selection phase consists of a Group Discussion and Personal Interview with IndiGo.
    The list of successful candidates will be displayed online on this page and will be notified personally.

    Training program

    The unique IndiGo Cadet Pilot program is for individuals aspiring to be pilots and involves two phases of training:

    Phase 1:
    Provides the cadets with the training required to obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with a Multi-Engine Instrument rating and required Multi-Engine experience.

    Phase 2:
    Provides cadets with Type Rating (TR) training to become a co-pilot on the Airbus A320 aircraft. Type Rating training will be conducted at one of CAE’s training Centers like Bangalore or Dubai;
    The duration of whole program from start of CPL course to completion of A320 training is 19 months.

  • 3. Testing and final selection ongoing throughout the year. 2012 course start dates are:

  • March 15, 2012
  • June 15, 2012
  • September 17, 2012
  • December 17, 2012
  • Please note: Applications are accepted 3 months prior to commencement.

    Scanned copies of 10+2 marksheet and medical certificate (FORM 35) are mandatory at the time of screening.

    Applications with incomplete DATA/expired medicals will not be processed.
